Morning Glory

Since I was awake at seven a.m. this morning, I decided to go swimming so that I'd get tired enough to go to sleep.

The swimming pool is really peaceful early in the morning. The only people there are older than forty, and they quietly swim lengths or sit in the hot tub before they have to jet off to work. I was a little self-conscious at first, because I hadn't worn my new bathing suit out in public yet. It's not that the bathing suit is ugly, it's just that I'm not a tiny chick. However, I thought, "Hey, if that guy in the see-through shorts and his buddy in the speedo aren't self-conscious, why should I be?" I also figured that middle-aged people and the elderly probably wouldn't whisper any rude comments about my weight, so I forgot about how I looked. I spent a rather enjoyable hour swimming or floating on my back so that I could look at the sky through the skylights. I'm not sure why, but the shade of blue in the early morning sky makes me feel happy. After swimming, I bought some pretzels from a vending machine and took a walk around Murrayville. In the summer, the world is so bright and cool and quiet in the morning. I think morning is going to be my second favourite part of the day during the summer, because I get sunshine without all the heat and humidity. Of course, my favourite part of the day is still the night. I love how clear and calm everything feels after dark. Screw afternoons. They can be used for sleeping. I like sleeping when it's warm, anyway. Even if the weather is scorching hot, I still like to tuck myself in with a fluffy blanket. I have to have a cool pillow against my face, though. Josh is the complete opposite, he once said that he likes to warm up the pillow before sleeping.

After I slept from nine until three, Josh and I went on a bike ride, and I got a wee bit of a sunburn (yet another reason to hate the afternoon). Mom has promised to get me some SPF 45, so that I can keep my ghostly pallor instead of attaining a beautiful strawberry shade.

Oh! And the CD/MP3 player came in the mail today! I'm going to spend my evening downloading MP3s. I'm beginning to feel like a big techie with the player and my l33t digital camera. All I need now is to figure out how to use the webcam feature on the digital camera, and I can roxor your boxors!
