My brother and his friend Colin have their girlfriends over, and they're having a water fight in the front yard. John's girlfriend is really nice and down-to-earth, but Colin's looks and acts like she wants to be Britney Spears. She even has this weird half-crimped hair up in a ponytail. I understand that a 14 year old girl trying to be like Britney isn't unusual, but when she's with Colin, it is. Colin looks like he's going for the stuck-up nerd look. I don't mean geek chic, I mean the sort of kid who has thick glasses and a pocket protector. Not that Colin has either of those things, but his general attitude has "I look weak and ineffectual, but am actually full of myself!" written all over it. Add to that the fact that his grandma buys his clothes for him. He's completely different from John, but I guess they must have some things in common since they've been friends for 15 years.
Last night I couldn't sleep, so I went for a walk around Langley with John and David. David's pretty funny, and he's a heck of a lot more entertaining than sitting at my computer.
I think I really have to stop staying up all night. If I get a job this summer, I'm going to need to be able to stay awake during the day. I don't really like that idea, but I guess if the workplace is air-conditioned, it's okay.
